Tenor Andy Boggs has been recognized for his “control and timbre,” with critics describing his voice as something they “could listen to him sing all the time” (Theatre Artists Advocate).

In the 2026-2027 season, Boggs returns to Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music, where he is pursuing a Performer’s Diploma in Solo Performance. He will appear as Martin in Aaron Copland’s The Tender Land with IU Opera & Ballet Theater. He joins the season as a Performance Fellowship recipient and Performer’s Certificate recipient following two years as a Graduate Assistant at the Jacobs School of Music.

Boggs recently made his debut with Opera Memphis as Anthony Hope in Stephen Sondheim’s Sweeney Todd, produced in collaboration with Playhouse on the Square. His performances earned him the “Outstanding Supporting Actor” Award at the 42nd Ostrander Awards in Memphis. The production itself received ten Ostrander Awards, including the award for “Outstanding Overall Production.”

In IU Opera Theater's 2025-2026 season, he played Will Parker in Oklahoma! and covered Parpignol in La bohème. During IU Opera Theater’s 2024-2025 season, he played Peter Quint in Benjamin Britten’s The Turn of the Screw and Alfred in Johann Strauss II’s Die Fledermaus. Other roles he has enjoyed are Don Ottavio in W.A. Mozart’s Don Giovanni, Tamino in W.A. Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte, and Ralph Rackstraw in Gilbert & Sullivan’s H.M.S. Pinafore.

A versatile performer equally at home in opera, musical theater, operetta, and concert repertoire, Boggs has developed a repertoire spanning Mozart, Britten, Copland, Sondheim, Rodgers, Strauss II, Sullivan, Puccini, Ravel, Handel, and other composers. His theatrical work has included Ralph Rackstraw in Gilbert and Sullivan’s H.M.S. Pinafore and Alexis in The Sorcerer with Victorian Lyric Opera Company. His portrayal of Ralph Rackstraw earned him finalist recognition for Best Performer in a Musical in the BroadwayWorld Washington, D.C. Awards.

As a concert soloist, Boggs has performed repertoire including Handel’s Messiah, Ives’ The Celestial Country, along with works by Bernstein, Copland, and Schubert. He has also appeared as a soloist with Indiana University’s NOTUS, University Singers, University Chorale, and the Frederick Children’s Chorus.

Boggs holds a Master of Music in Voice from Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music and a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from the University of Maryland, where he studied with Gran Wilson. His artistic development has been further shaped by training and performance opportunities with Opera Memphis and the Winter Harbor Music Festival.

When he is not performing, Boggs enjoys staying active on the pickleball court, spending time at home with his girlfriend Nicole, and their cats, Morticia and CiCi. He is an avid fan of Star Wars, Game of Thrones, and Peaky Blinders, and enjoys following both the NFL and college football—particularly the Houston Texans and the Indiana Hoosiers.
